| | ABOUT US
Auclair is the premium sport and outdoor division of Paris Glove of Canada Ltd., one of the oldest and most respected glove companies in North America.
Paris has been entirely family-owned since its inception in 1945, when
founders Felix and Lily Monk brought their glove knowledge from the old country to the wild and adventurous new world: a place called Canada .
The company has earned an enviable reputation in the glove world as a premium brand synonymous with quality, style and performance.
"I think my parents chose the name Paris for two reasons: Paris was the
city of romance, where the fell in love and had their first baby. Secondly,
Paris signified prestige and fashion. Felix and Lily planned to build a line of fashionable products with high quality standards," says current president and CEO, Peter Monk, who took over operations in 1973.
Since that time the company's business has expanded more than ten-fold.
The world has changed a great deal over the last 50 years and so has the Paris Group of Companies.
Today, the Paris Group includes:
- Laurentide: Supplier of gloves, protective clothing and rainwear to industry.
- Gloves International Incorporated: Supplier of private label gloves
to chains and department stores in the United States.

For all the growth and evolution on the outside, the inside of the company remains unchanged: A committed group of people working together to bring the best gloves -- and the best in sporting goods -- to market.
Thanks to this proud tradition, Auclair and Paris not only enjoy one of
the longest sponsor-team relationships in all of sport with a 30 plus
year history with the Canadian Cross Country ski team. Auclair is also the
official supplier to practically every Canadian team on snow and ice
including Alpine, Snowboarding, Freestyle, Speed Skating, Bobsled, Luge,
Nordic Combined, Biathlon, Telemark, Speed Skiing and, of course, Cross
Country.
When Ross Rebagliati won the first gold snowboarding medal in Olympic
history, he was riding with Auclair. When alpine racer Melanie Turgeon
ascended the World Cup podium, she raised her hand in the air -- it read
Auclair. And when Becky Scott took home the first Canadian Cross Country
medal from Salt Lake, you know it, Auclair was there.
A proud history, a family approach and an unflagging desire to
make the very best gloves in the world have made us who we are: strong,
dependable and performance-oriented. We are Auclair.
