It was one of the most sensational moments of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics Games: As Charles Hamelin celebrated his 500 m victory with girlfriend and fellow Olympian Marianne St-Gelais.

In February of 2010, Canada’s long-track speed skaters came to a golden end — and it was all in “the push”. Canada’s secret weapon lead teammates Denny Morrisson, Mathieu Giroux, and Lucas Makowsky to a Gold medal victory over the Americans in the men’s Team Pursuit.

  • This years Canadian Olympic Winter Team is the biggest... EVER. The Canadian Olympic Committee announced on Wednesday, January 29th, that 221 athletes from across the country will be competing at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games. Amoung the hundreds of athletes, 27 are speed skaters. 
  • With 11 brand new venues, at an overall price tag of $46.5 billion dollars, 
  • the Sochi Olympic Winter Games are being recorded as the most expensive Olympic games ever.
